John Jay Center for Learning, located in downtown Portland, Indiana, is dedicated to helping people achieve satisfaction and lifelong employability through education.

John Jay Center provides services not only for Jay County but surrounding counties as well. Programs at John Jay offer a wide variety of options for persons of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. In order to deliver these services John Jay Center for Learning partners with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and Indiana Wesleyan University for college classes and partners with the Jay School Corporation for the ABE/GED and Credit Recovery programs. John Jay Center also enjoys a wide variety of community partners who support our educational mission.

Cindy Cash - Executive Director

Cindy Cash is the third executive director of the John Jay Center for Learning having succeeded Rob Weaver who retired in December 2010 from the Center. Cindy joined the staff in January of 2011, prior to joining John Jay Center, Cindy was employed for ten years at South Adams Schools in Berne, IN as Manager of Information Systems and recently a Career Planning teacher. Cindy previously worked at Jay County Hospital in Portland, IN as Manager of Information for ten years and also worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Company for five years after finishing high school. A Jay County High School graduate, Cindy has recently earned her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Educational Technology from Ball State through online classes and is an alumnus of the Indiana Wesleyan LEAP program receiving her Bachelors of Science in Business Management through the John Jay Center of Learning. Cindy also received her Associates Degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Information Data Management.
Josh Gibson - Workforce Education/Advancement Director

Josh Gibson has worked for John Jay Center for Learning since July 2010. His main responsibility is connecting industries and assisting them with the training that they need to workforce professional courses. Josh has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Ball State University and completed his Masters of Science degree in Community Health from Ball State University in December 2010. Josh also has a secondary health and physical education teaching license from Ball State University and Indiana Wesleyan. He has an extensive community/public/school/industrial health and education background.
Debbie Howell - Student Services Advisor

Debbie Howell has worked for John Jay Center for Learning since October 2010. Her main responsibility is counseling and working with prospective and current college students who are looking to further their education, coordinating marketing for John Jay Center, and scheduling the use of classrooms at the Weiler Building and Jay County High School. Debbie is an alumni of the John Jay Center where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan.
David Minnis - Building Custodian & Maintenance Coordinator
David Minnis joined the John Jay Center as an employee after the center moved into the Weiler Building location downtown Portland. Dave worked for Eli Lilly for 27 years, retiring in 2005.
